> [!info]+ Customer credits staff and studio owners the discretion to **credit a customer for a future booking** instead of refunding their card. You can opt to credit partially or fully. Customer credits can be used as way of payment for a booking, in part or fully. Credits are used to pay for bookings, and will be automatically used when bookings are made by the customer themselves, or when staff makes a booking for them - they automatically deduct the amount in part or in full. When a customer makes a booking online, you can choose to refund that booking or credit the amount of the booking to the customer profile. This is the first scenario that we explore. ## Cancelling a booking and applying credit First off, we find a booking that needs cancelling – this can be one in the past or in the future and can be only done by staff that have the ability to edit bookings. ![[credit-booking.png|Credit or cancel a booking]] You'll have three options: - firstly you can cancel without refunding your credit in the customer at the bottom - secondly you can refund the customer's card and cancel the booking. For this, you'll lose the Stripe or Square fee - thirdly, we can credit the booking and cancel it at the same time ### Credit balance on the customer Once you've credited a booking to the customer and cancelled it, you can head to that customer profile page and see the balance that has been applied. Firstly, you can see the balance overall at the top of the page. ![[customer-balance-after-cancel.png|Credit balance showing $72]] Secondly, you can see all of the movements of credits for the customer in a separate section for greater clarity. ![[customer-credit-history.png|Credit history of a customer, showing one credit]] ### Changing the credit amount If your studio enacts a cancellation policy of, for example, a 50% refund within 24 hours of the booking starting, you can edit the amount that you credit back to the customer by changing the amount in the given textbox. ![[change-credit-amount.gif|Changing the booking credit amount]] ## Manually changing the customer credit You can also manually just changed the amount of credit a customer has, by going into their profile - under credit balance section click the button 'Change balance'. ![[change-balance-button.png|Change balance button]] Once on this next form, you can set any positive (e.g. above zero) amount you like. ![[edit-balance.png]] > You can't set a negative balance, as in, that money is owed to you. To do this, raise a [[Payment Requests|payment request]]. ## Customers using credit to pay for bookings When any customer with any amount of credit on their account now booking with you, they'll be first using their balance. This is a booking for a room costing $52. Their credit amount before this booking was $72, so Jammed is clear that it's using that amount here. After this booking, the customer will have $20 of remaining credit to spend. ![[customer-using-credit.png]] Jammed uses the $52 of customer credit as a transaction on this booking, thereby making this booking 'free' to the customer. They won't be asked for a card payment. You'll see this in the booking detail page they then make with credit: ![[credit-on-booking-52-dollars.png|A credit transaction on the booking for $52]] On the customer page in the admin section, staff members will also be able to see this usage of credit for this booking - ![[debit-amount-customer-movement.png]] ## Staff applying credits when making bookings This is automatic in Jammed - you won't need to do anything differently. - If you make booking for a customer that has credit, we use this amount first straight after the booking is made. - This works for paying fully for a booking (it'll deduct the full amount), and also for partly paying for a booking (it'll use all the credit) If a booking is made by staff, this also gets added to the customer page - here you see a booking was made ![[movements-after-staff-booking.png|Credit movements after staff booking]] ## Customers can see their credit balance When a customer has registered a Jammed account and is logged in, they'll be able to see any studio balance they have with you: ![[customer-credit-my-account.png|Showing credit amount of $72]] ## Cancelled bookings applying credits In the [[Booking Settings#Refund settings]] you have the ability to offer booking cancellations online to customers, and repay them with credits at your studio. ![[refund-settings.png]]
