> [!info]+ Memberships let you group your customers into tiers and give each tier its own deal. Perks apply the moment a member books, so there are no codes to hand out and nothing for your staff to key in. You can also take payment for them automatically each month Each tier can give members a percentage off every booking, an allowance of included hours each month, access to members-only rooms, their own payment terms, and bookings that skip approval. This page covers turning memberships on, creating your first tier, and enrolling new customers automatically. ## Turning memberships on 1. Go to **Settings** and open **Membership settings**. 2. Switch the **Membership system** toggle to 'Enabled' ![[enable.png]] That's it. The Members button appears on your [[Customers]] page and the membership box appears on every customer record. Once you've created tiers, the toggle can't be switched off again - so to disable memberships, you'll have to remove all tiers first ## Creating your first tier On the membership settings page, click **Set up memberships**. The setup guide opens with two things on it. **Pick a starting point** gives you template cards. Each one opens the tier form already filled in, and you can change anything you like before saving. Pick whichever is closest and edit from there. ![[guide-choices.png]] ### A discount for regulars > Every booking these customers make comes off at a set percentage. The simplest place to start. Fills in a tier called **Regulars** with a ⭐ icon and 10% off the booking price. Good for: the band that's in every week, the producer who books more than anyone else, anyone you'd currently give a quiet discount to by hand. ### Included hours each month > Members get an amount of booking included each month. Covered time costs them nothing; anything over is charged as normal. Fills in a tier called **Monthly hours** with a 🎸 icon, 10 hours a month, and bookings over the allowance allowed. Good for: a flat monthly rehearsal package. You collect the fee outside Jammed and Jammed meters the hours. See [[Booking Allowances]] for how the metering works. ### Members-only spaces or rates > Restrict the tier to particular spaces or activities. Only members see them, and only members can book them. Fills in a tier called **Key holders** with a 🔑 icon. You choose the rooms and activities yourself on the form. Good for: a room you don't want casual bookings in, or a member rate. To run member pricing, create a [[Booking Activities|booking activity]] called something like "Members Only" with your discounted rates and restrict the tier to it. Nobody outside the tier sees it. One caveat worth reading before you rely on this: restrictions only fully apply when members log in before booking. If your studio allows guest bookings, see [[Membership Tiers]] for where the gap is and how to close it. ### Book now, pay later > Trusted members reserve without paying up front, skip approval, and settle with you afterwards. Fills in a tier called **Account** with a 🤘 icon, payment set to reservations and approvals set to auto-approve. It overrides your [[Payment Settings|payment settings]] and [[Booking Approvals|booking approvals]] for that tier only. Good for: the house band, resident tutors, anyone you already let book on account. ## Enrolling new customers automatically If you want everyone new to land in a tier without anyone doing it by hand, in **Membership settings** pick a tier under automatic enrolment. Customers created in your studio will be enrolled in that tier automatically. A couple of things worth knowing: - **It's one tier for everyone.** There's no way to send different customers to different tiers based on rules. If you need that, assign those customers by hand, the API or Zapier hooks. - **It only ever happens once per customer.** If you later remove someone's membership, logging in again won't put it back. You won't get into a loop with a customer you deliberately took out of a tier. ## What your members will see Members don't operate anything. Their perks apply automatically at booking time and show up as itemised lines on checkout, on their confirmation email and on their receipt. They can see their own membership in their account under **My membership**, which shows the tier name and description, when their membership started (and when it ends, if it does), the perks it gives them, and their allowance meters if the tier has one. ## Where to go next - [[Membership Tiers]] - every setting on the tier form and what it does to a booking - [[Assigning Members]] - start dates, scheduled memberships and expiry - [[Membership Payments]] - automatically bill customers each month - [[Booking Allowances]] - pots, caps, overage and partial coverage - [[Cancellations and Refunds]] - what comes back, and what doesn't
