> [!info]+ Extras are all the things you offer a booking that isn't included in the room booking price. This could include things like cymbal hire, amp hire, PA systems, cables, drum breakables etc. For each Extra you make on Jammed, you need to pick a name, price, and stock amounts. ## Types of Extra Within Jammed, you can add different types of Extra: - Ones that are limitless (or at least nearly limitless) in supply. E.g. guitar picks, guitar leads, drumsticks etc. - Ones that have stock control applied - Ones that can be added just once, or multiple quantities - Ones that can be added by staff only - Ones that are only available in certain rooms, or for certain activities ## Extras offered to customers To make an Extra customer bookable, this is a setting within the form. ![[online-bookable.png]] The other Extras will only be available for admin users to choose for a customer. This would be ideal, for instance, if you have rare or expensive amps that you only rent out to trusted customers. ## Stock and quantities Jammed can automatically track stock of extras - just set the quantity you have & we'll do the rest. You can also restrict customers to only add one of this type of extra, or allow them to add multiple to their booking. Ideal for mics, amp stands etc. ![[stock-quantity.png]] ## Limiting extras to specific rooms and activities When you setup or edit an extra, you can allow it to be offered in all rooms, all activities, or just specific ones. This might be useful to your studio if your spaces are used for different things, and you'd like to offer different equipment in these spaces. A common pattern here is to offer booking extras for equipment already in the room, but needing separate hire cost - like a grand piano, or use of the PA system. This setup also allows you to offer two different rates for the same extra in those two spaces by just making two different extras and giving them different prices. ![[limit-extras.png]] ## Calculating the cost for a booking The cost of an extra is always worked out *per hour*, regardless of the Price for that booking. There are two elements for deciding how to charge for Extras ### Price per use This is a fixed flat rate cost for the Extra. It applies to all bookings, and will always be charged. ### Price per hour The price per hour is calculated on the _whole number of hours that a booking has_. So if a booking is 3 hours and 20 minutes long, it will apply a charge for 3 hours. ### Example charges <table> <thead> <th>Extra</th> <th>Price per use</th> <th>Price per hour</th> <th>2 hour booking</th> <th>4 hour booking</th> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>Cymbal hire</td> <td>£5.00</td> <td>£0.00</td> <td>£5.00</td> <td>£5.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>PA system</td> <td>£10.00</td> <td>£5.00</td> <td>£20.00</td> <td>£30.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Shure vocal mic</td> <td>£0.00</td> <td>£5.00</td> <td>£10.00</td> <td>£20.00</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> > To make an Extra free, set both **Price per use** and **Price per hour** to `0` ## Future work We have plans to expand what you can add as Extras and how they work. A short list of upcoming features include: - Suggesting Extras to registered customers that have booked with you before - maybe they have a favourite amp, or always request microphones - Pre adding some extras as defaults to all bookings - but still allowing them to be removed - Reports on how much money has been taken via each Extra, and analytical data on how popular each is
